When I really really write - like work on a novel, I have to let go of my human friendships for the most part. That was when I was working fulltime. I either worked fulltime and had a social life or I worked fulltime and wrote. I didn't have time for both. Now I don't work fulltime and I have time for writing and friends. You make me realize that should I have to go back into the work world, fulltime, I will encounter in myself a painful rebalancing act.
