Poppies

Just as I'm about to be sad because the tulips are finished for the year, the first of the poppies opens one morning, while all the others are still asleep. It's one of my favorite days of the year. It give me hope. That first fluffy blossom seems to say to the others, Come on out! It's time to play! And the rest of the tight little pods hold the promise of a kind of beauty I can't comprehend until I see it. Like a life lesson gift wrapped in fuzzy green buds, it reminds me that while I might think I know what to expect from Life, there are endless surprises waiting for me.

And then, day by day, more poppies open and dance in the morning breeze. They're right outside my bedroom window, so they're the first thing I see when I get out of bed. Cheery little greeters, welcoming me to another lovely day. The first thing I did this morning was grab my camera and run outside to catch them in the soft morning light. What show offs they are.

I imagine there will be poppy beads showing up soon. I can't begin to capture what these are really like, but I do like to pay tribute to this beauty that shows up year after year, to make my eyes happy and share what it knows of the hidden secrets of the world.

And now, for those of you in search of beads, here they are! 6 new beads today, all encased CZ Flowers, ranging from 15 to 17 mm across. These have a 2mm (1/16 in) hole. Someone asked yesterday if they fit Troll bracelets. No, they don't. When I make some that do, I will be sure to make that clear.

To buy these, please send a new email to me at kim@kimmiles.com (rather than replying to an email I've sent to you, which causes confusion.) Tell me which beads you'd like (they're numbered from left to right), and how many you want in total. I take the emails in the order they come in, so whoever gets there first gets the beads. I check my email often throughout the day, when I'm not in the studio, watering the yard, or dancing with my baby grandson. I'll send PayPal invoices to the lucky ones, and will mail the beads by the end of the week. Enjoy!

  2. Barbara is right. You take great photos, but nothing can compare to seeing one of your floral beads up close and personal. Their depth and vibrancy is breathtaking. I can hardly wait to see your poppies. Norine

  4. LOVE the poppy photos. Mine started blooming on Monday....a fitting tribute to Memorial Day. Or is it the other way around.
Thank you for the bead bling. Even though I am never quick enough to buy a bead, I thoroughly enjoy looking at the works of art. Thank you for sharing.

  5. Fantastic photos of the poppies. Thank you for sharing. Here in the UK ours are not quite ready to come out in the abundance yours have, but you do see the odd bud waiting for the right day. Laney x
