Taos Feeds Taos

No time this morning! Rick and I are heading to the National Guard Armory to help load boxes of food for Taos Feeds Taos. It's a huge operation that only happens once a year. I helped out once a couple of years ago, and loved every minute of it. If I were a Rich Lady, I'd be volunteering all over the place. Maybe I should pay attention to that. Hmmm...

Anyway, no time to ponder life options at the moment. I'd love to hear what you're doing this season, or any time, as a volunteer, doing something good, just because it feels good. Let us know!

My husband, three daughters and I work every Saturday at a place called Oxford Orion FISH. It is a food pantry for our town of Oxford and neighboring community of Lake Orion. The girls love going and meeting other kids from the area and knowing that they are doing something good for our neighbors and friends.

I'm a Reiki practitioner and volunteer at our local no-kill shelter. I get back soooo much more than give.

My husband and I do Amazon Bird rescue in our house. We take care of 70-80 amazons currently. It would be nice to let them back in they're natural habitat but thats kind of immpossible. It's nice to hear jungle sounds in the suburbs. Sometimes we hear someone talking as well...that's kind of fun too... Beth

We clean out and organize our cupboards in December and take as much as we can to the food bank. I always buy extra canned stuff so when the food drives start, I always have something I can give.

Gingee and I will kick off as Hug-A-Pet volunteers here in Monterey County (California). I've known she is just right for this visitation work to care facilities since she as a pup! Now is the right time.

Every Christmas our family chooses a family in need and we all buy gifts for them. Suzie

Unfortunately, my volunteer time this year is with my 49 year old son who has some serious health issues and needs my help. Hopefully, this will pass and next year I can reach out to the community again. Polly Anna

I confess I haven't done any volunteer work in a long time. I give to the local food bank, toys for tots, angel tree, etc but I should start giving of my time, too.

Like Polly Anna I will be caring for my husband who just had major surgery. In years past, my family volunteered at a SuperBowl party (obviously AFTER the holidays, everyone does something @ this time of year)for the homeless. We had BIG screen TVs donated and fixed and served a sit-down lunch AND dinner for about 400 homeless and underpriveledged people. We did not turn anyone away! Also distributed toiletries, etc. We provided child care so the adults could enjoy the game. It took all year to plan and organize, but was a wonderful, satisfying, tiring, LONG day. After the game we provided shuttle service to the homeless shelters. The appreciation of the attendees was so rewarding.... Sara in FL

Iam ashamed that I don't get out and volunteer. I did work at the Art museum for a while, but then got to busy with my own art.

I donate money to the "food for A''' from time to time, and give canned goods to food drives, but I should be doing so much more.

I am so blessed. I should share.

Let's see, I am finishing about 25 knit hats to send to Children's Hospital in Denver on Saturday along with 20 brightly colored pillowcases. I am also working on blankets for wounded soldiers to send to the hospital in Germany and I donate to local food drives. It is so satisfying to give to folks that need a little cheering up ! April

I think it's great to "Pay It Forward" - especially during the holidays when everyone is supposed to be happy. But how can you be happy when you're hungry? You are doing a wonderful thing!

I ask the post office for some of the letters to Santa. I pick one that speaks to me and buy a gift for that child.

Charlie and I will be giving out blankets and scarves to the homeless. We will also help out at the mission on Christmas day since that's the only day off we get til after New Years. Blessings to you and the commenters for doing what you are....
